The Countdown Begins

The invites have gone out. The countdown begins.
If anyone has any suggestions or comments regarding the party, leave them here...

Beautifully Ugly Bathroom

On Thursday night I went to a very cool housewarming party and then onto an exclusive HMC party in Magil. However, the image I really want to share is of the bathroom at that second party. This has to be the ugliest bathroom I've seen in a long time. I felt like I'd stepped back into the 70s. I seriously love this bathroom. I'm also hella glad it isn't mine.

More NYE Pictures up!

If you click over to my fotopages account [HERE], you can check out a few more NYE pictures, taken by Lenny Joyce. They include some dancefloor action as well as a few pictures of the now infamous Shot Luge.
I must say the shot luge was one of my favourite things about the party. We poured all sorts of spirits, from flavoured vodkas to Jagermeister, down that icy groove, getting everyone who partook well into the party spirit.

More photos will be up soon.

A Gentlemen's Absinthe Evening

Chris, James and Gawain came by on Friday night for a evening of Absinthe drinking. We chose to consume it in the Bohemian style - pouring it through a sugar cube, setting the cube alight and then dousing it with water. Absinthe is a wonderful and unfairly maligned drink.
The brand we drank on Friday was particularly good: "Absinte", 55% proof, from France and going for almost a hundred dollars a bottle.
Obviously, we all got diabolically drunk.
There shall be another such night come winter. Hopefully, the remaining two gentlemen who couldn't make it this time (Absinthe without leave) will be in attendance.

Me and Feldheim down at Electric Light Hotel

Last Friday, before my night took a whole other direction, I caught up with David Feldheim at ELH.

Hugh's Farewell Drinks

Stopped by the Grace Emily on Friday night to partake in the farewell drinks for friend and collaborator, Hugh, who heads off to Sydney in a few weeks.
I got to catch up with various friends from the local film scene, including Kate and Sandy; Cam; and Emma (all pictured with yours truly).

The Virgin Power Plug

I have decided to turn my home into a shrine and make ready to welcome pilgrims from across the globe. This morning, when pulling some duct tape off a power cord, the Virgin Mary miraculously appeared on the plug. This must be a message of some kind. (On the other hand, it looks a little bit like the _other_ Madonna, which might not mean anything as she'll turn up anywhere there's a camera) Anyone care to venture a comment?

Iraq Petition

I don't know about you, but I was pretty disgusted but Bush's new plan for Iraq. Watching the announcement yesterday, I could not believe what I was hearing. I'm no international affairs expert (despite the fact I can talk some serious shit on the subject if roused), but I'm pretty sure this was the same revised plan the US used in Vietnam... and we all know how that worked out.
Yeah, I'm sure this is only gonna make things worse.

Fortunately, I got an e-mail from the "move on" organisation this morning, linking to a petition they are running in an effort to have the new policy blocked. It's not a huge thing to do, but at least it is something that can be done.

Here's the link:
Petition
Head on over and add your name if you feel in any way strongly.
Heck, it can't hurt, can it?

To Toga, or not to Toga?

If you have any better ideas, I'd love to hear them - leave your suggestions in the comments below.

It's really all about the popcorn.

Been clocking a lot of shifts at the cinema lately. I'm kinda getting used to being elbow deep in popcorn. (For those that care, the most expensive part of a large popcorn is the cardboard cup.)

New Year's Eve (continued)

I'm not going to try to post all the pictures from this marathon NYE party here - it would take forever. You can find selected images over on my fotopages photo blog (link over on the sidebar of this page - yes! It's finally updated!). There will be more pictures from the party posted there over the next week or two as the other photographers who attended hook me up with their pics, so be sure to check back over there once in a while.

New Year's Eve 06/07

This New Year's Eve saw my best party to date. Everyone seemed to have a huge time, with the party rolling well into the next afternoon. Thank you to all who came, particularly the band and DJs.
